Minecraft Realms is a subscription-based service that allows players to create personal servers only they and their friends can access. If you are among those who have no idea, you might wonder what Minecraft Realms are. Although some may be familiar with this branch of the game, others may not. If you are involved in this world, you may have heard of the extension Minecraft Realms. If you want to allow your child to play with others online who are not on an Xbox, change "Block" to "Allow".Minecraft is a booming world-building video game with millions of players around the earth. Select the child account that you want to adjust, and click on Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety. Now when you go to your Xbox account settings, click on "Privacy & online safety". You will first need to make sure that your child is signed in to their Microsoft account (the one that is in your Microsoft Family) on their Windows 10 laptop or their Android device (the latter will have to have the Microsoft Launcher app installed). Windows 10 and Android: While cross-play parental controls are still in Beta on these devices, they are available. This will allow any game with cross-play – Minecraft, Fortnite and the like – to connect your kid to kids on a non-Xbox platform. Under You can play with people outside Xbox Live, change "Block" to "Allow". Select your child's account, and then Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy > View details and customise > Communication and multiplayer. Then go to Settings > Account > Family Settings > Manage family members. Xbox One: You will need to make sure that your child is set up and signed in on the console. This will be because you need to grant your kids access to play with people who aren't on an Xbox system. If you have kids and have set up a Family on your Microsoft account – which we absolutely recommend – you may be getting questions from them along the lines of "I can't play with my friends on PlayStation". You'll also be able to earn Xbox Live Achievements with a Microsoft account, except on the PS4 version, where any progress made count towards the PlayStation Trophy system. Items purchased and your coins will also be linked to that Microsoft account, so if you decide to log in on another device later on down the line, you'll still have access to all of your gear and currency. Having a Microsoft account also allows you to purchase Minecraft Coins and items such as skins from the Minecraft Marketplace. You'll also need one to join your friends, host realms or join public servers. You can still play the game offline, but to play online, you're going to need one. A Microsoft account isn't necessarily needed to play Minecraft. The main platforms that currently, support cross-platform play are Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Windows 10, iOS and Android. This includes platforms like the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch - which are not owned by Microsoft. In fact, you'll need a Microsoft account to access all online features in Minecraft. Cross-play allows you to play Minecraft with friends who own the game on a different platform to you, however, to access it, you need a Microsoft account to sign in to Xbox Live.
